First Time Homebuyer's Education

Headwaters RC&D Area, Inc. provides 1st Time Homebuyer Education classes on a monthly basis.  These classes are provided in cooperation with the Montana Homeownership Network, which is part of the NeighborWorks Program and Montana Board of Housing.
 
These eight hour classes are held on two evenings from 5-9 p.m.  In order to receive a Certification of Completion the participant must attend the full 8-hour session.  The classes provide information on budgeting and credit, the home loan process, down-payment and closing cost assistance, homeowners and life insurance, home maintenance, protecting your equity, and USDA Rural Development Programs including the Self-Help Program.  Headwaters utilizes the services of professionals in each of the subject areas to provide instruction and answer participants’ questions. Headwaters also contracts with the National Affordable Housing Network to provide one-on-one housing and financial management counseling.  This service is offered free of charge to those completing the Home Buyer Education Class.

All Homebuyer Education and Housing Counseling are offered to all interested homebuyers regardless of income.  Completion of homebuyer education is required for Montana Homeownership Network down payment and closing costs assistance.

Please Note: Our classroom is not suitable for children. Please arrange for child care in your own home during the class. The Headwaters RC&D Home Buyer Education classroom is located at our offices at 305 West Mercury Street.  If classes are moved to another place, you will be notified.  For further information contact (406) 782-7333, ext. 300.
