These workshops include, but are not limited to, the Business 101 workshop on "Starting and Financing a Business". The workshop is about the craft of creating a business plan for the small business. The business plan is the essential document used to raise money for the business and a means to communicate business vision and strategy to the management team, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders. In essence, the business plan is all about taking one's dream and turning it into reality. Smart entrepreneurs plan, not because accountants or business advisers tell them to, but because they understand that it increases their chances of success. The workshop also covers the prevailing banking environment for small business loans. Loan programs provided by banks, Headwaters RC&D Area, Inc., and SBA are present along with discussion of proper loan structure and prevailing rates and terms. A non-refundable $10 fee is charged to each participant. Workshops are subject to cancellation if there are not a least two participants.
FastTrac® Listening to Your Business Workshop will be offered in the fall of 2008. This interactive and enlightening workshop will help you analyze your business and develop a strategic direction for the future. First, you create a three-year vision for your company. Then by analyzing your current position, you create an action plan to lead you toward your vision. This workshop will take you and a group of peer entrepreneurs through a four-step evaluation and action process designed to enhance your company's performance now and into the future. The course outline includes:
- Setting your three-year vision
- Taking a snapshot of your business
- Evaluating where you are in the planning process
- Translating your goals into action steps
